Trackball is a good tool for special needs or common use. It's very convenient and ergonomic. Students who are disabled can easily move the cursor with their thumb, not whole hand. They're not limited to use the device on a flat desk surface. Trackball can be used while browsing a laptop in bed. I had taught three students of Muscular Dystrophy. It's very difficult for them to move their hands. I often brought them trackballs to surf the internet and allowed them to do what they want. I often used Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Piant, Games...etc. They had to control the trackballs to move the cursor. They couldn't use trackball well for the first time so I had to help them get used to trackball. They often spent much time to use the trackball. If they could control the trackball smoothly, I inspired them to try again. Day by day, they were good at browsing or playing games.
